As you probably know by now, I absolutely LOVE the great outdoors and am so lucky to have some fantastic places that we easy to get to from home and don’t cost the earth to visit and Tatton Park is no exception.
This weekend I have been taking it easy as I got food poisoning (not from any of my recipes or foods – just to get that out there!) and was down in Essex visiting friends for the main part of last week, so a gentle stroll was on the cards over our energetic hilly hikes.
Autumn is a wonderful season with the trees changing to golden amber and the light becoming more subdued. Tatton Park has some absolutely wonderful trees and the lake just really sets things off. And it has a hard path which makes it great for a gentle walk or for anyone with mobility issues as it is very smooth.
I know there is a £5 charge (which goes to the local Council) but it really is worth the money as you will get a good day out of your visit, especially if you take a picnic like we do. Even if it is eaten in the car looking out to the lake! lol! Ooh and the good news is that if you are a National Trust member (I would recommend you do it if you love walking and exploring!) then you can also add visiting the garden and the house free of charge.
It’s funny really, I have been visiting Tatton Park for a HUGE chunk of my life (being north-west born and bred) and it never fails to impress me. There is always somewhere now to explore and other things to discover too (have a go at Geocaching, they are fantastic here!)
One of the best things about Tatton is that you can spend as much time around people as you like or if you fancy being a little bit quieter to enjoy just the sounds of nature then there are walks around the Old Hall that you can do and rarely meet another person. I love the unlimited options!
Now that I am feeling much better, I think we will start planning for some more strenuous walks and hikes in the near future. Not this weekend though as we’re off to the Motorhome and Caravan show at the NEC in Birmingham! We are so cool! 😉
